Thanksgivings

Thanksgivings
I thank whatever gods may be for the dawn of each new day
On our lovely, fragile Earh,
For the infinite variety of her people, plants, and other creatures,
For music of every glory,
From birdsong through whale chanteys
To human harmonies and the sounds of silence.
I am grateful for the sun, the moon, and the stars
In their courses across infinite space.
I thank the Unmoved Mover for setting.
The universal dance in motion
So than I can join it in my own small way
And learn the steps that lead to the final mystery.
I feel blessed for the friends and relatives I have,
And even for my enemies, for they keep me honest.
Most of all, I am thankful for my wife.
Who is my boon companion, my comforter, my lodestar,
And my anchor to windward in times of storm.
May she and all good people be granted
Blessings in the Light\.
